Here's an interesting blog post about how back in the day knowledge work was more visible - papers on your desk, note pads, half-finished reports, etc. Today with digitization, knowledge work essentially becomes invisible, making it harder to manage and improve. The benefits of visibility are now something that we need to seek out and make happen.
